Pagodroma nivea Oct 31 Pallett station. First snow petrel seen at 3:36 P.M. It was flying high & along the ridge behind camp. Flight was direct with almost continuous flapping which I understand is typical of the bird. Dr. Fells saw one later in the afternoon across the bay at the site at which they nested last year. The bird landed & entered a nest cavity, emerged a few minute later & flew. These are the first seen this year. Nov. 3 None seen since above. Nov. 4. Several Hawaiian men live on a fundage construction detail reported seeing some snow petrels today. They were seen in mid afternoon, in 2 flocks & about 15 in the first & 15 or 16 in the second. Flying high from Pallett miles across bay. Nov. 7 George Meyers & Keith Wise made a trip across the big bay in the afternoon. They reported seeing "a couple of dozen" snow petrels about one segment of the cliff. Meyers reported seeing one bird go in & come out of a nest cavity. Nov. 9 Visited petrelery in afternoon, the section of ciff we visited was pt about a mile long
