Catharacta maccormicki Feb 2 J.-Chub regurgitated food-penguin meat & adult penguin feathers. Feb 6 Several more moultting adults noted during day. Chicks apparently more freely among territories largely commanulated by adults. Because of my presence a herd of 4 gathered on territory 31 none of the respective adults followed them or took any defensive action. This a frequent observation though this is the largest herd I have seen. One exception at nest 11. Chub can fly, alighted on 349 territory one adult attacked it, grabbed it on neck then decorated. Chub in "gape" defense with hissing zirga zirga call. adult attacked it second time chub then ran off. This attack may be because 11 chick so much larger than 349's who is a late hatchling. Incubant at Spa. A standing got into "regurgitating" pose (whatever that is); in other words stretched to neck and about to regurgitate. One adult showed great interest started towards it then as food was brought up several mobbed it on the spot. Feb 8. Molt of Dumas collected on Feb 7. 1761- Replacement general or ventral tract capitulated & very sparse (1012) on back. No flight
