Maley 1961 Catharacta maccormicki: Feb 1 Mottled skins were noted several times today. There are birds in which the body feathers particularly head neck & breast have uneven coloration as if they are replacing the contour feathers. Those I have noted have been around campor in penguinings not in sherry. I just noted one on the day of the stern x have been noting them occasionally some. 500 chicks On recent round when I saw the first flying chick I make a observation I should record. As the chick flew down slope & then up an adult dived on it & stayed right on it (the chicks) back, feet down as if trying to force the chick down. After on same round at nest 321 when the chick got up ran one adult did the same thing flew to back of chick & seemed to push it down perhaps to induce it to crouch (?) F&T Tercels &s etc. To Falcons when they have nest I believe, but why? Feb 4 Next 500 chick can almost fly got feet 6 mile a loss off ground & when I chased it 11 - chick out of enclosure.
