Catharacta maccormicki masses of krill lying there. Walls to p. colony 12 feet from bin pick-ups a lump, walnut size, of brail, head for another bait when a penguin charges or he flies. Lands on far side colony stays there 2 minutes, perhaps feeding, then flies across the core. 5:55 308 p. sitting by nest. One adjacent to skeleton one 30 feet off. 5:57 Ad 308 nearest nest flies to snow & gets some. 5:59 Link 331 returns circles low over ten. Lands on island + announces to albatross flying over at 25 feet. 6:00 left. Jan. 10 4:10 have been watching near nest 204 since 3:20. Ad. 31 + chick in present. The chick has been wandering about most of the time giving the beg. call in plaintive manner. Twice it haggard adult + begged to no avail. Once it went to stream of water & broke. Jan 11 12:55 p.m. arrived albatross near nests 11 + 349. Link 349 is incubating, chick stealing 20 feet away 11 Sohad standing 10 feet from nest I am in territory of 29 and watch in fact I find I am 15 feet from their chick which is flattened down watching me.
