Catharacta maccormicki: Jan 2 left. There were 2 large bruised areas on its neck, one on each side, great at junction of head + neck. Skin broken slightly on one side + a little bit of external bleeding. Head not crushed. They had eaten the intestines out of the carcass + temporarily abandoned it. 9:40 PM returned to watch at nests 331 + 308. In 308 flew to nest at my approach + both landed near, now active. Banded 331 not incubating lands behind me, unbanded is incubating. 9:42 One adult 308 flew out by small f. colony near nest. Other flew into enclosure, stands at the floo out. Disturbed by my presence. On way out I spotted a large penguin, chicks with deceration on video of head + neck as seen on the bird killed above. Seems apparently to kill penguin chicks, which are healthy ones as these all appeared alive. 10:20 Banded 331 flew from near me where it has been for 40 minutes at a place 35 feet from nest preens, etc. 10:26 381 Banded suddenly flew to nest just 2 feet from it. Unbanded seems incubating but starts picking my objects in front of him + tossing two right + left over
