Castracata macaronnichi.

chick was only 5 feet or so from its colony. I didn't
see whether it walked or was dragged here, the
latter I think. When I first saw it one
adult had a hold of it & was tugging away
from colony. Penguin resisted stubbornly,
called. No penguin nearby paid any attention
though adults were standing there. Sees
get hold on both of neck, squealed, twisted
getting itself on top of penguin. Penguins
speed during this, looked like Dracula in the
last moments. Chick finally dead & some
began pecking at it, opened gut cavity first &
started eating. Pete which had stood by
during this came over, begged & was fed. They had
several tugs over pieces of gut. One bird
(the killer) then took a piece to the chick. It was
fed again a moment later.
Later bonded 301 walks over to penguin
colony. One adult penguin drives it off.
It had been standing some modest
immediately above. Suddenly flies off across
Willow Cove, heading for Spa, but I lost
sight of it at about our Spa.
Only 308 also flew over cove straight toward
Spa.
