Castracata macaronnichi. Dan 2 chick was only 5 feet or so from its colony. I didn't see whether it walked or was dragged here, the latter I think. When I first saw it one adult had a hold of it & was tugging away from colony. Penguin resisted stubbornly, called. No penguin nearby paid any attention though adults were standing there. Sees get hold on both of neck, squealed, twisted getting itself on top of penguin. Penguins speed during this, looked like Dracula in the last moments. Chick finally dead & some began pecking at it, opened gut cavity first & started eating. Pete which had stood by during this came over, begged & was fed. They had several tugs over pieces of gut. One bird (the killer) then took a piece to the chick. It was fed again a moment later. Later bonded 301 walks over to penguin colony. One adult penguin drives it off. It had been standing some modest immediately above. Suddenly flies off across Willow Cove, heading for Spa, but I lost sight of it at about our Spa. Only 308 also flew over cove straight toward Spa.
