Catharacta maccormicki Jan 2 Watching at nests 331 & 338. I am setting boyle for both nests. I arrived here at 2:15 so that period unfortunately that I did not bring my watch so that times will be very approximate. The light colored, banded, 331 is incubating & has been since I arrived. It with is eating a penguin chick (187g) from me. Just a moment ago he chased one bird away. He did 2 previous T. O.S., one a ground announcement to a bird 20 feet high, second a long chase for a bird that swooped down & "bugged" the nest. 4:00 pm Banded guest relieved. Came from feed trees then flew lands near me & challenged. Banded watched me a long time, then flew to a spot in the snow 30yds beyond nest & fed from a penguin chick carcass. Finally at 20yds from nest now watches me with first one eye then the other. Not 308 Chick finally got fed. Alert picking at a penguin carcass next to nest. Several times flew into badger's enclosure but left again after seeing my attention. Finally fed it by regurgitation, chick pecking gently at its thick bill until it regurgitated. Still pulling at carcass. Guest saw 308 or kill a penguin chick. Occurred only a few feet from their nest. The penguin
