Maker 1960 Journal. Oct 31 (cont.) Departed McMurdo at 9.30 A.M. on Oct 30. Flew via C-47 (called by another name in the Navy.) on shice. Dato accelerated take off. Had a good smooth flight some 3 hours for Hallett, perfectly clear rummy at Hallett. Runway is about 2 miles from the base on the bay ice. Dr. Falla was on the flight, also Orion Reed who will be here studying Seas. There is no use attempting to describe Hallett at this point. It is magnificent; that will have to suffice for now. After forcing luggage into sleeping quarters (a gamesway) & laboratory (a gamesway) went for a walk through the penguinery & shenary with Orion Reed, Dr. Falla, Don Douglas Keith (Wise (an N.Z. entomologist)) + one other chap. Saw part of a movie "Meet me in Las Vegas" or some such nonsense after supper. In late evening saw 3 Emperor penguins waling past camp Dr. Falla + I walked out to them. Stock
