Mably 1960 Journal Oct. 31 (cont.) offered to wrap + ship everything for me. We were summoned to the plane at 8. A.M. on the 28, this loaded aboard + started at 10 A.M. This was the shortest trip I have ever had. After a long warm up + run up of the engine, the pilot gave it full power but just as we were getting up speed he cut the engines, we topped back + were informed that this had been a malfunction of one engine. It was fixed shortly but as we were about to board word got out that all flights were cancelled because of McMurdo weather. Several globe- meetings already off were all turned back + they kept coming in at intervals through the day. Dome had been out for several hours. We were finally off at 10 P.M. At a 2000 + some miles to McMurdo + this took about 10 hours. I was aboard a Constellation super 6. Loaded with VIP's, gentlemen of the press, Admirals etc + about 4 USARP people. Landed at McMurdo at
