Cathartes macrourus Dec 8 60T bird in Spa 2:05 left shining Dec 9 Arrived during 11:20. 11:25 Unbanded relief, banded at 206. Stands making the soft "m m" noise, puts head down once & banded gets off. Then stands for 2 minutes tossing small objects right & left one shoulder. Frosts right. Announces to passing bird briefly & now sits 3 feet from nest. P. 204 is present (P. 230 also), only P. one member of 42 in present, said- ating. 11:32 A roaring aerial sweep of 2 birds, one of which then landed high on slope & the other after lagily circling or gliding along slope flew across one towards bar. 11:40 40 scream in Spa 11:45 A fight at nest 212. Two birds on one, + a fourth standing. The 2 were apparently P. 212. They both had hold on the 3rd bird, one on its head I could see & the flopped about for 2 minute or so. Third then broke away & flew. P. 212 then went for 4th bird who departed. P. stood close together and announced loudly for a minute or so. 11:50 Bird 212 finally sat on eggs. They have been standing & announcing occasionally for several minutes.
