Catharacta maccormicki: Dec 8 L.y-0 announces as at land. It returns scarce after landing. Rt y-bl (RTH.-230) returned from Sp. Bream. Returned about 1:20. 1:30 L.y-0 has moved to 18" of settling bird; has been making occasional low noises as if he wants to incubate. 1:47 L.y-0 moves over format, giving low & m calls. Sets down when I move to get camera. Rt y-bl. plus 50 yds returns + lands on head 70 feet from nest. (1:52) 1:57 single 31 returns from Spa- land near me, suddenly she 20 feet + fight with another bird. Wry flopping- beaks & feet were used. Feet in downward paling motion. After several bouts they stopped. 31 went into to bill down display. Other bird did the same & held it for several seconds, body flattened & uplifted as if about to set down. Then they both stood. While writing above heard copulation call. This was being given by the intruder. 31 stood. When he tried to mount which held. 304 Time 31 just stood & turned bill up to her she flattened up. Pore muddy. This hammer seemed to stop the other bird. They now sat 2 feet apart.
