Maken 1960 Catharacta maccormicki Dec 8. 11:58 Eleven penguins standing (one lying) on edge of Spa. 12:20 7 penguins have walked around Spa and are now at its south end. The other 7 split off and walked out ontoullet cone. 12:28 Unbanded 42 who had very gradually been shifting his position from an original 15 feet from nest to 40 feet over the last 15-20 minutes, walked slowly to nest. The incubating bird (banded) at once got up, stretched wings vertically walked few steps forward. Unbanded set. Banded spent 2 minute tossing invisible items & white flecks back one shoulder then flew to Spa. 4 penguins walked by me about then out into cone. One chased 12 off nest & then left, alone, across cone. Two more stayed by Spa & are now walking this way. The 2 penguin walked between nests 2040- 2302 on out. Neither one paid any attention to them. 12:58 R.T.H. 230 returns from Spa land 20' W of nest. 1:00 R.T.H.230 flies off towards penguins 52 slaves on Spa 1:22 Unbanded bird lands at 31 near cone
