Yale 1960 Journal Oct. 31 (cont.) A lunch at the terminal and gotten our luggage they took us into town to the hotel. I spent 3 days in Christchurch and left on the evening of the 28 for McMurdo Sound. The interval was spent walking about Christchurch which is a beautiful city, visiting the University & the University museum. The latter contains a very superior section on natural history. Habitat groups of N.Z. birds very well done. Also a section on N.Z. palaeontology. There is an excellent addition exhibit also of Maori material. At the University I met an invertebrate Zoologist Frank (?) Knox who is Department Chairman. Bernard Stonehouse is newly arrived on the staff. & had a good talk with Dr. Robert Falla of Wellington Museum was on campus & I met him briefly there. Did my Christmas shopping at a gift shop at the Terminal. This shop had the best selection of New Zealand material I found anywhere. They
