Catharasta maccasumucki been 15-18 pairs Total - I moved 2 finally on the ice before the shrewy & Ron got 2 with roches. All were killed in a titlene in a plastic bag which was put over their head. It worked very effectively. While trying to moor birds I had one grizzled character defend the bait as a territory. He would not eat himself but tried to keep others away. The interesting thing was seeing him announce on the wing with wings held V & a long glide calling as he did so. Earlier this or another bird did the same thing near the glacier, a "V" glide which however, ended by the bird landing on the ice - There the only 2 real genuine "V" glide announcements I have seen. Nov. 23 Pair 25 has produced an egg which is abnormally small. It is approximately 1 1/2 inches long & proportionately wide. Lack of defenesseness of birds with 107 shortly after the second egg is noticeable. Today one bird which had an egg now simply left it at my approach with no reaction. This makes detection of early nests some-
