Catharacta maccormicki Nov.17 Willett Cove 100 yd off shore from Bonne Bleuie way Sam 2 sweeping & diving together, one made 20-3 passes at the other forth then landed at adjacent nests, some 20 ft apart in shrubry. Nov.18 Pt. O&Y. showed interesting reaction to my presence near nest. It was standing 30 ft W. of nest I was walking past nest towards it. The bird walked & ran from me backing & raising wings, finally flew. This very reminiscent of Lomarina, what I regard as important distraction. Saw 2 birds at a distance in act of courtship feeding. Was attracted by the call being given by the begging bird (C & D porcuna) It was the same begging call given by pom. chicks when food begging, shrill high pitched ngi ngi ngi ngi ngi. This actually is very similar to normal begging call & latter can be derived from A (vic vena also) by lowering pitch, adding a "ubeezz" component & dragging out each syllable begging & Food beg call so also usually uttered one syllable at a time & each independent entity not phrased as the full call is.
