Catharacta macrorhynchi Make, 1960 Nov-14 2:40 (4P A V) land well. Y mate, regurgitates, then walks off 10 feet uttering shake call occasionally, shakes momentarily rests. Partner stands without moving. Mate finally walks over slowly + sits 3 feet from it. 2:45 Pt Y-O moved 12 feet east. Van been here alone since dawned. [301] #5 sitting band moved once be at egg, 2:55 Just witnessed a furious fight. Involved bird Both - Br. o mothers saw them already engaged to yde from bee on ground. Both Br. was down & the other bird had a good hold on it with its bill. A third unmarked bird stood by - the one announced a few times to passing birds but otherwise simply shooed 10-12 feet from the fighters. They fought savagely using feet in alternate shewing motion & bills. Or was held down in 2 or 3 long intervals by the other, who appeared to have a hold of Br's neck for head. Once I thought the unmarked bird up with it - he spread wings out & down, spasmodically as if he had just made contact. Possible? Birds finally up - all 3 challengers other 2 vs Queen - Queen adversary shook again + been flew cleared off by other unmarked penguin. Wing
