Malay 1960 Catharacta maccormicki No 8. Second bird peeled egg & began eating, they bared & taking slips alternately. Finally bird (unbanded foot) walked 3 feet to small ice cake & began eating snow. Both then sat side by side. 2:45 The same pair seen in pain feeding. Banded bird regurgitated once for other bird which was begging. It then arped hill in snows few times, other time. Stood & flown off. Second followed a moment later. Witnessed one copulation of pair over near slope in which the 7 stood up & gave the challenge display just as the 7 reached clirning. Effectively unneated the old boy. [ p. 12 ] Copulation of pair just S. of my spots over by edge of cone. Several interesting points about this copulation. It began immediately after the 7 fed the female. He at once went to cop. calls, got himself well wound up, spread wings & mounted. Female sat down until he made contact. He remained on her & made contact 2 times while she stood. She sat again for the 4th round. A remanments continuously. 7 gave the chirring note just before & during contact.
