Malis 1960 Catharata macconnicki Nor.2 Hallett Station. Arrived Skerry 10:15 Tosh vantage point 25 feet up slope near narrow end of skerry. From here counted 31 skuas mostly pairs from a line run out from an alluvial fan about middle of skerry to its narrow end. There are some pairs on the slope also, the meeting area extends another 100 feet up the slope from where I sit. 10:35 - 2 arriving birds greeted by Challenge displays of pairs over which they flew- 10:45 Skua lands near second one. Greeted by Challenge display and call. Stands next to "B" stands erect, Gathers approached with neck raised "bowled" B - skuas in back of next just as I saw raised a little "B" walks slowly off at attention. "A" follows slowly gradually brings neck down & begging choke. The 2 stand together for 2 minutes so. "A" with head down (behind B) B firmly walks off slowly A paced in and down a coked pathway. A sits down 11:00 Spotted pair courtesy feeding. One begging following "B" walking. Stopped on a snow patch. B brought up a morsel which A ate. Continued begging - poor as described above. Male unwell
