skua numbers VIZ a mis penguin comp-
ared with those at Hallett; also idea of
tuning cycles to compare w. Hallett. I took
the S. half of the beach + Don the N.
I walked the beach to the bluff, climbed
it up a broad shelf, a possible skua
nest area + returned in a line 200
yds. Nor my first traverse results were
astonishing. There were no breeding skuas
at all though many non-breeders.
Don came back with the same
report. Another traverse through the central
portion of the penguinery produced the same
results. Then w. Pr. Lershol (Sp.? Don
+ I climbed up the hillside. Here we found
our first nests widely scattered located
on outcrops. We climbed gradually
from prospective nests to prospective
nest + reached approximately 750 to 800
feet elevation. From here we so no
signs of skuas above + instead of
continuing we proceeded along the face of the
bluff scanning down for more nests
+ descended along the N. edge for large
hillside colony. Pr. Lershol had previously
climbed pathway up + along an area V.
