Make, 1961 Journal the denary in the morning. The afternoon was spent watching nests 349+11 over in the skies. The hand showed the first signs of improvement at last. Pain is decreased considerably + I was able to move the arms easily + with no pain. This is welcome. Word came through late in the day that I am going to Cape Adare on a one day trip; also the Dr informs me I may be sent to U.Z. for treatment depending on diagnosis. Jan. 8 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. Sunday. Collected penguin remains from nests Got all of the chicks weighed and also went around + collected all penguin remains I found at the nests. The accumulation was considerable as I haven't done this in a week or more. In afternoon also measured + recorded the bulk of the days catch. Also unfortunately aggravated the hand a little but I think it was worth it. The hand in general shows no big improvement anymore. I have 2 more days until the ship gets here to regester a real going otherwise I'm sure the Dr has decided to ship me out regardless of the diagnosis.
