Male, 1960 Journal by a crew brave then & after a noisy interlude celebrating the new year (broadcast over the ham set) we went over + made more punch. The party lasted until I don't know when. Slept at 4 AM, played some music for a while & went to bed. At 8 AM I got up & returned to find Sheldon + Joe Deacon holding down the fort. Joe had just swept most of the paper out & was making noises like he was going to mop up but he soon staggered to bed & I likewise after a codeine pill + 2 aspirin for my headaches. 1961 Jan 1 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. I got up a second time at noon, still whoozy from the night before, had a breakfast of ice cream (this was the communal meal about noon at the station) + went for a short round, all checks were weighed + nests with eggs were all checked. Notes written up in evening: Jan 2 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. The band is acting up again. I woke at 5 AM or so with it paining & was unable to go back to sleep. Inspection showed no infection & the Doc decided the pain was result of straining the joint
