The oil men were all College men from Ohio & good fellows while the BAT, fellows were Virginia & somewhat younger but equally loyal. We journeyed with these chaps in their house boat which was in low of a gasoline launch back to the R.R. On the way we passed up another long canal passed village & swamp land. Our way was made merry by songs, stories, beer & good wishes & period admiral as a fitting end to the damage done we had just witnessed. The train left at dark & our way home to Shanghai was quite mercurial & made thru a steady ful drizzle. The station was
