women wearing pantaloons
but more had bound feet.
Chinese men were equally
divided between European
dress & the long flowing
gown of the upper class
Chinese. These northern
Chinese are well in
advance of their southern
brethren. Many Japanese
men also seen at the
Races. The women wore
the Japanese custom but
the men after almost with
out exception wore European
garb.
