them. The hotels are hired at $8.00 per night by my friends who engage a stranged Chinese fiddle orchestra of three + or more singing girls. The girls sing to the weird squeaky fiddles in a high voice and the affair is interesting without being enjoyed by a European. The girls are young & pretty as Chinese go. Between acts the party drinks servings & the hotels of large size & comfortable. These affairs must be arranged before hand. I saw one tiny auto, the only one they on the Brand wheels on a wide road face flanking the river & the only street Canton where motor cars
