contained a large granite ball art which is so large that it cannot be extracted & was cut from the opening in the mouth. The guide showed me several of these balls in green marked animals, sculptors in various temples. The City of the Dead is a peculiar institution situated outside the city wall from the air slightly the flowerly pagoda which is inside the City. There are some 500 rooms where coffins containing the dead may be deposited until gardner is built or selected. If these stables the mummy come at intervals to wash, & offer supple elaborate dates of food for the spirits of the departed such as a regular menu & 15 or 20 courses.
