Late in the afternoon I motored out to the gap with Corntington west of Town some 6 miles. Here there were many small tulip trees growing here on red clay hills that soil which was badly furrowed + worked away by rains owing to clearing of spray weeds. On the roadside I saw a Durian tree with its tuberculate fruit growing on the terminal branches. Inspecting J Gibbons Robinson said that some species were dimorphic the brown ones being conspicuously in black & that they sometimes changed from brown to black midveined
