8) This morning I visited
Mr. Damardale, director of
the Museum. He had just
returned from Paris, which he
where he has been studying aquatic
forms. He is specially interest
in mollusca. He said all
the mammals in exhibit were
70 years old & should be replac'd.
Very little new mammal
material is in the museum;
He has very few funds for
works & the staff is small
& devotes all its time to
research. There is no money
donated by wealthy Britishers
or native princes.
9) It has rained most of the day.
At the hotel I met 2 Burma
Oil Co. company men on their
way to Shillong, a hill station
of the capital of Assam now
the Government at 5000 M. altitude
