(4) spent the Independence Day visiting the Zoo with my newly acquired boy, a Mohammedan Bengali who has seen Europe as well as Asia. The Park is very Prettily laid out with Lakes, Lawns + shade trees. Palm[s] of several species were common objects, both both coco etc. Great numbers of natives in families were seeing the animals. The women in their white robes are pretty + classical in garb. The children were happy the smaller ones [illegible] A guide book + map purchased at the entrance made the Park very accessible. A large number of tigers + leopards were in the park + one keeper exhibited a tiger written which you could stroke.
