When I proached it growled or hissed like a house cat & opened its mouth & bared its teeth in a vicious manner. We took several photos get in the trap. The dorsal mane stood upright- all times, it was very conspicuous. The scent glands were very large & gave out a pleasant odor although when cut out- held to the nostrils the odor was rank & overpowering. A new shrew, the short tailed, large headed Sorex of Sichuan Sorex Vito, was caught today. I found some of the trails in debit Prolores. Shrews in good condition dropped by some food along animal I have not doubt. In the late afternoon I went with Si Wu to the forested ridge where we found the Gamban trail system.
