(1) New cheng lives 40 li beyond Cloverdown than camp.
New rat + 2 microtars, one of which was very small (but only 14 mm.) + new to me.
(2) The night was cold with heavy frost + snow ice.
The day was clear & warm without a breeze. A party of hunters came from the village 10 li away & hunted near camp for nuttygas.
Fox was flushed near A who ran with the hunters but by mistake he did not shoot it. A nuttyga was heard barking. Three small mammals were secured: The "Silver Grouse" (Autoscis shrew?) a Microgyp red-bellied squirrel & a chipmunk.
afternoon a trypin like insect-like with naked tail + mouse-like terrestrial feet.
(3) The night was clear + very cold with heavy frost + thick ice. It seemed the coldest camp in all China colder than Hsieh cheng. Then where snow was abundant, there were of the peculiar Trypia-like shrews.
