Golden fruit were seen, a
few banana palms with
fruit were also noted but
citrus fruit trees were
not noted. We reached
Shikher at 3 P.M., &
made camp in a temple
at one end of the town.
The place is small with-
out any wall or fortification.
A post office & magistrate are
located here. The town is
situated at the extreme
lower end of the valley, by
high hills on either side &
a metre deep V shaped
valley of this part of the
plain. During the afternoon
saw 2 flocks of the common
goose in ponds but they
were too many for our
powers. At Shikher the
Magistrate who visited us
remarked that deforestation
on the surrounding hills was due
