Sunday The town is nicely situated on wide plane & the street are spacious & the place beautified by shade trees & open park like spaces. I have been struck by the friendliness of the English on board the carrier in holding chatting to one another. There seemed of the cold brought the English people so often found in India, Persons who show no sympathy for anyone are not here here & are remarked by universal dislike. There is an old chap on board an Oxford man who is a judge in Madras Province. He is John [illegible]
