Steel traps set for wild dog
+ civet cat (Paradoxurus).
It is strange that the
gorge cliffs where goats
are numerous are not the
haunt of leopards + wolves
as well. Apparently the goats
die here uninviolated as no
trace or tracks of carnivore
are to be seen here. The
gorge shows a ragged rift
with brush. Her storm
was filled chiefly with blades
of green grass + some shrubs.
In the afternoon I went out
hunting for mountain goat but
flushed nothing. A solider
bore 17 huts (large Cyclostes?) in
camphor near the river.
@ Started this morning to
hunt serow with 7 men
who took me down the river.
On leaving the camp I saw
a mountain goat in a bean field
across the valley 3 or 4 away.
I fired + it dropped shoulder
to side. There after I put
