"The hill country is covered by
allright red soil. Redfields
clared for rice were seen
in many places. This crop
is raised without irrigation
on hilltops & plains, from
where we had a trip far could
see for down the Taiping
Valley where the Bhamo
road runs. We returned
in them at breakneck speed
over a good dirt road &
reached Griers house at sun-
down.
23 Visited the waterfall
at Teng-yueh. It is on the
lower westside of town it's
formerly the creek which runs
down the valley dropping over a
loose cliff about 50 feet high.
The falls spreads out very pretty
in spray. Immediately above
it is a stone bridge.
24 At 9 am we left Griers
house for the goal camp
& took a road leading north
across the valley & then a deep
valley near the Minor large conical
mtns, at noon we were near
