On the way down as mule backed &
lost the martingale & crumpe off. Found
a wish. The pieces of strap in his hoof & the
wretched saddle still on the mule.
camp set some 50 more
miles trips. The meadows at
little line are piddled by the
brooms, of a small indent,
allarming approach of
death.
(13) Today was a wet one at
the dawn. During the night
it rained & in the morning
there was much mist & cold
wind. A shot a fine 5 quail
a few 10 yards from camp
down from a cliff where we
had set more trips last
evening. The quail was
held a boy by the legs. I
after it was shot it fell
down the cliff into the creck &
broke its inside teeth. The coat
was in fine fresh wonderfuly
but the body came not fat. The
stomach contents were clean.
best thing & bunch of stems, quail
a went on again with the trip.
Shutters last saw another
all the fresh tracks were seen. If
other quails near snow line &
cartridge in the more trips.
