every afternoon at dusk, The
men were all dressed in white
linen and straw hats
and an immaculate uniform

U.S. or Europe.

soldiers & sailors danced. The
place had a large floor space &
good orchestra & quite often
of the better class Americans
were there. The soldiers dance
with Filipina girls, some
employed in the hall. The
one step is the favorite dance,
with a few malays for tots.
Returned to Terrap at mid-
night.
On Monday, spent the
morning having my pass-
port vised by the B.C. for
Hongkong and did some
shopping on the Escolta & in
the Manila hotel where they
have many ladies hats and
