A large late forest pigeons
a few doves were also seen.
The hedges bordering the
road were mixed of long
straggly rose bushes covered
by Clematis which was covered
by a profusion of white blossoms.
The valley here all devoted
to rice. The hillsides were
so plentiful in small pines
that in places spruce trees
were seen in groves. One of the
common wild flowers was a
pale blue primrose,
a yellow Hypericum bush,
was also seen. During the
day herds slowly set
outwards, some 300 pack
animals, mules, horses &
donkeys: The salt is a great deal monopolies. It
is transported in great lorries
many 60 lbs each, for after
making a pack load much
of the cart was largely with
shale rocks & sandstone -
