In the valleys were many field
of ripe marigol & rice just
dipening old. The altitude
here was about 5000 feet, cool
pleasant. Nowledge of few
huts or people seen. Reached
Mong- stz station @ sundown.
Only a simple crop is raised here
arting all the time I expect. Rice
fields often made of dirt terraces
at very steep hillsides, country
without forest qrs covered with some
small bushes. The soil in
the Mong- site valley is
bright red! The hills were
covered by fine grass but no
cattle or horses were grazing
in it anywhere in the landscape.
The stock raising possibilities
of this country looks very good
as if much money could be
made. Reach Ann-Toleon
at 9 P.M. & took rooms at the
hotel near the station. The ride
past the Mong- site valley was
interesting. The track runs
