Species Account
Dolphin sp.
March 9 leaving Nihoa Island
three large dolphin along starboard side for
5 or 10 minutes about 5 miles from Nihoa. Moved
off in direction of [illegible] Nihoa.
March 14 passing Hardor Peninsula
About 7 on starboard side for several minutes.
Large species, light brown dorsal fin.
March 26 between Midway and Kure Atolls
Saw three light brown Cetaceana in shallow area
(light blue) that was surrounded by deep blue ocean.
Observation was made from about 1500 feet.

Insects
March 8 + 9 Nihoa Island
Didn't have much time for detailed observation.
Found false scorpion under some lava rock about 4" long. Saw at least four species of ant. Large
cockroaches were around the campsite at night.
Moths of all sizes were abundant. Several species
of fly did numerous small winged insects were observed.
Several species of spiders were seen but none of the
large garden variety were observed. Isopods were
everywhere. At least one species of [illegible] ladybird
beetles was seen. Several species of weevil.
March 10 Necker Island
Didn't have much time to observe insects on this visit.
There are at least two species of fly, one green species, and
one resemble the common house fly. Saw only 1 species of ant.
Large cockroach [illegible] is also present.
