March 24-25 Midway Atoll March 26-30 Green Is., Pine Atoll 12 birds observed on an island circuit (26 March) 1 bird in charging plunge observed near bananae. C.D. Hacker 1967 Special Account Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) March 8 N.Ihoa Island Flocks of 17, 23 + 32 seen flying over water on southside of the island. March 10 Necker Island Several small flocks were observed 5+12 and 5 solitary birds were observed along the ridges. The flocks were in flight over Shark Bay. March 11 Tern Island, French Frigate Shoals 48 birds observed on the runway near the mess hall March 11 East Island, French Frigate Shoals 48 birds counted on a complete island circuit March 13 Trig Is., French Frigate Shoals 41 birds counted on an island circuit March 14 Whale-Shake, French Frigate Shoals 34 birds counted on island survey. March 19 Laysan Island 250 birds around the beaches during a circuit of the island. 388 birds observed in the NW quadrant of the lagoon along the shoreline (the majority) or in shallow water within 50 feet of the shoreline. Total population close to 800 birds. March 20 Lisianski Island About 100 birds on the beaches + in the interior of the island.
