March 19 Layson Island One flock of 45 birds observed on the south beach during an island circuit. Single bird + small groups of two or three seen at several other locations. Total population about 60 birds. March 20 Lisianski Island About 15 birds observed on the beaches and in the interior of the island. March 21-23 Southeast Is., Pearl + Hermes Reef One flock of 14 birds observed (23rd). Estimated island population: 20-25 birds. March 24-25 Midway Atoll None observed.
