Somewhere on the island according to Chandle S. Robbins,
not in the run-off area from the runways on this
date.

Pintail (Anas acuta)
March 11 Ten Island, French Frigate Shoals
One flattened carcass and a wing (from second bird) were
pointed out by the Coast Guard personnel and are presumed to
be of this species. The CG said that 19 ducks arrived in a
flock and that a number of them died shortly after arrival.
March 25 Sord & Midway Island
Three in the remaining water in the run-off area
from the runway. Chet Robbins said there were 5 or 6
more ducks around but that these spent most of their time
up around the quarters begging hard nuts.
March 31 Sord & Midway Island
Three flying near end of runway (northern ed). None
observed in pond area.
