Hachman, C.D. 1967 Species Account Glaucous-w. Gull (Larus ) March 15 Gardiner Peninsula. One bird observed by Gene Knoll as ship passed to the north of the Island. Hachman, C.D. 1967 Species Account Kittiwake, Black-legged March 28 Green Island, June Atoll Saw a gull, about ring-billed size, while walking along the north beach to check out the eel population. The bird was an adult, had ink-dipped wing tips and very dark feet. There was no terminal bar on the pure white tail. There was a dark area on the head behind the eye (indicating that this is a dark headed species). The bird was glimpsed from the side for only a second before turning to fly directly away to sea. I did not have binoculars with me. March 29 Green Isld, June Atoll Found a dead gull along the runway around noon. This bird matches the one observed yesterday in every detail. This bird (USNM 53002) had been dead for some time since it was completely dried out.
