"Harborom, C.P. 1965 March 8 Journal Jervis Island 93 Back up at 0650 for a radio check with the ship during which I requested that we boat run be attempted because of surf conditions. Since the captain wasn't up yet the ships wouldn't commit itself on the matter so I had to stand by on the radio until 0710. At that time they request another radio check for 1200 Hanna for a final report on the surf. My one toe felt miserable in my regular tennis shoes so I borrowed a pair of Jo Paul Woodwards which are 3 ½ sizes larger. Since the entire side was out of those creases walking was something less than a delight because of the swelling and one Trilobite again that little the ground. My other cut outs and injection are showing signs of healing but this pusser in optional slow. Both Max and I we attempting to keep these cuts open and draining so that they will heal completely rather than ulcerate deeply as our other cuts did. The ulcerated cuts, can be and are extremely painful and sensitive at times. Hopefully, another week will see the last of the worst ones we have. Operating under the rain assumption that all growing boys need at least 6 hours of sleep, I sacked back out at 0718 - finally getting up at 10:30am. We hung around camp doing odds and ends until the 1200 radio check and then went out to make a nesting survey of the island. I didn't get too far because of my aching toe so I puttered around with stick insects and Red-tailed Trogloclides along the leeward side to the north end and to the quays diggings in the interior.
