Finally pickled the Thamnophis
whose wound was soft swollen and
discolored, but nowhere near killing him after
more than 24 hrs. I suppose the cantil's
venom may help in predigestion, but they
don't nearly immobilize a reptilian prey item.
When they were found the cantil was trying
to swallow the Thamnophis apparently aware
that his prey wasn't nearly dead.
27/ I went to pick up my wallet while
parents drove to Chinultenango to see "incap" people.
The leathersmith hadn't showed by nine so I split
and after much searching found a Chinalt,
bus ($10) and had a pleasant ride. Went up
and found "Chrchivac" locality at milestone
94 on the Panamerican highway just beyond
Tecpan, looked for a few minutes in heavy rain
without success (I believe because as I heard
later the rains had just begun and perhaps the
animals had not yet emerged) and left.
