It has been a dull, dull day and we
feel correspondingly blue, though Cap-
tain Comer keeps a stiff upper lip
and says "Don't give up the ship" + "she
'll be here before long - just a few days now"
He thinks that the "Civett" is out all right,
but Rasmussen and Koch, who was
here at dinner (6 p.m.), think that she
is in the ice and are thankful that I
am not on her. So too am I, if this
surmise is correct.
Peter has developed a little fluency.

Overcast, but clearing toward noon. Calm
Sun breaking through clouds between
12 & 2 p.m., but fog came in thickly
about 3 o'clock. Very light southerly
wind about 4 o'clock.
