at dinner today we drank (2/2)
a toast to the incoming president,
for the success of the administration
of President Hughes and the contin-
ued prosperity, happiness and peace
with honor of our country. But
after dinner Joe got on one
of his characteristic tirades about
the European war. If his knowl-
edge of facts were more accurate
he would not get so far astray in
his arguments as he does. He seems
very strongly progermanic, and to
think that the U.S. is acting the
fool - but I cannot tell how
much in earnest he is. I guess
he likes to stir things up.
Somebody asked Ahwegeeah
what he had had to eat to-day.
He replied "Only tea", but he seems
to be contented. He is lazy all
right and merits Captain Cone's
nickname for him of "Barnacle".
He seems willing that Summit
should supply the meat for the igloo,
still he does go out after rabbits
occasionally. The baby's name, one
of his names at any rate, is Pee-wah-to.
