"This evening a pane of glass (187 in one of our front windows was pushed in by a dog which was on the roof of the sled struggling with an- other dog over a bone. The snow drift was cleared away too soon. Have been reading today Captain Jysso's account of the famous drift of himself and party on an ice floe from Littleton Harbor southward. A terrible journey. Developed a dozen feets this evening. The edge of the ice stretches across the fjord from abreast of the point facing the small islands. Open waters between Rad- eliffe & Knorr & Knorr & Stan Is- lands. I saw two seals in water near edge of ice, within easy rifle range, but I had no gun with me. Mac went up to cairn on thermometer hill found Temp. min -37.5, max +23.7 since 13 Nov. last. Captain took noon reading with- out using lantern.
