He said that there were nailed 60
up and that there were three more
which were not closed. Jerome
had told me at the "Cluett" that
there were 8 or 9 boxes of foxskins
left in Jot's hands by Mac when
the start for Crocker Land was
made, and that he knew because
he sealed them. Mene told me
last winter that he counted 9
boxes of foxskins left behind thus
by Mac. Mac, however, declared
before Jot this evening that these
statements could not be true
because there were not more than
60 or 70 skins at headquarters at
that time all of which had been
gotten with his own personal trad-
ing material. He then consider-
ed them to be his own, but later he
came to see that they were not
his according to the contract
and he reported them all, with
subsequent acquisitions, to
the museum. Jot made no reply.
