Several mem- bers of the crew had dressed up in Neptunian costumes and they went through with a farce which called much laughter to all who understood the language. Two men were "initiated" to the Arctic, this being the first time they had crossed the circle. Shaved with slush for lather, applied with a paint brush. Tryed up by the feet and poured in a tub of water head first. Both took everything in good part. By request I made a Martinique for the cabin. Mr & Mrs Fercker gave me cordial welcome.
